Templecon Count Down

Templecon is this weekend and it has been the usual mad scramble to get everyting done.  The good news is I got 45+ guard painted and based to tabletop quality in the last week and a half, along with 10 devastators, and 5 Vanguard Vets...the bad news, I still need to do a display board, 2 tanks, an Imperial Bastion for Simon, touch up some random guys for Gundam John, and my commissar...the plan was to do this today so that  I could get two good nights sleep to kick off the linger effects of plague round 2...or 3 that has been going through our home this winter...not sure if that will happen or not, here goes!

Here are some pics on the progress so far!

New Codex

A year ago I was getting back into playing DA with the FAQ changes to the wargear, gearing them up for Templecon.  I originally started out with DA.  I've always loved the terminators and a sucker for redemption stories. I played them in two or three tournaments and hopped over to MSU Mech Blood Angels.  I just couldn't handle the lack of mobility, flexibility, and variety within the book.

Here I am getting my Blood Angel with Guard Allies army ready for Templecon and this new book drops...I just can't not play it!  The problem so far is that what I would play in the new book is not much different than what I would play in the old book, as many terminators as possible.  However, the Deathwing Squads have many of the same issues as the last book and are actually 5 points more expensive. I'm throwing around 3 different lists at the moment.

Straight up Dark Angels: Belial 3-4 DW squads, bike squad and a couple terminator squads hanging out with a librarian who has the 4++ bubble, divination and night-vision.

Deathwing with BA Allies.  Belial and a 10 DW squad hop in first turn.  BA use his homing beacon to drop on that location second turn. Again some devastators and librarian to fulfill the reserves vs. on the table requirement.

Last option is Deathwing with Guard allies.  Belial two Deathwing squads, librarian and devs: followed up with a 30 man blob, manticore and Marbo.

I really can't decide, which is problematic for two reasons.  If any of these three are going to be painted in time I needed to start a couple weeks ago.  I'm likely to only get 2-3 games in between now and Templecon...what to do what to do?

Pic from the BG Invitational today...

Great time today at the Battle Grounds Invitational. Games did not go as planned, but learned a lot about how to rework the list before Templecon. Got a couple great pics of my scout squad!

Shark Marines!

This post is chum full of pictury goodness!  Bring on the Shark Marines.  Here is the background that I was provided going into this commission.  Not much to say here so I'll let the pictures do the talking so to speak. Enjoy!

Shark Marines

A fleet-based Chapter, a third founding chapter, malformed progeny from the ranks of Space Sharks (Carcharodons)

Banished from the ranks of Space Sharks to a life of exile, Shark Marines patrol the outer edges of the galaxy far from Imperial support. Still loyal to the Emperor, they use highly questionable and unorthodox methods in their crusade to carry out His will. Knowledge of the Shark Marines has been banished from all but the most secret Imperial records.

After the Badab War, in which the Space Sharks played a pivotal role and began to emerge to prominence as a Chapter, a number of Space Sharks began to display signs of their Chapter's secret curse: The Sharkness. Their skin became tough, rubbery and grey. Their teeth became jagged. Their eyes became pools of black hatred. Their sense of smell increased thousand-fold, scenting their targets from miles away. Rumor has is it that they can survive the deep pressures underwater, and some veterans it was whispered did not even need to use a rebreather.

The Chapter is on the verge of extinction. Unable to replenish supplies and take quotas from Imperial forces, the Shark Marines slowly grind toward oblivion.

Here are the pictures, enjoy!

I ended up having more fun doing the shark logo than I had anticipated.  I orginally was only going to do it on the drop pod and Rhinos, but added it to the shoulders for the terminators as well.
